Brotherhood

BROTHERHOOD
BROTHERHOOD is a story about dangerous love and the search for identity. Following disillusionment with his career, Lars decides to leave the army and is drawn to the Neo-Nazi movement and not least to his peer, Jimmy. The two men become embroiled in a secret love affair, but such forbidden love cannot go unpunished in fascist circles. However, despite all the rules forbidding it, the love and sexual attraction between the two men is so strong that they cannot abandon their affair?

“A film that constantly subverts expectation… What lingers in the mind about Brotherhood isn't the details of the plot but the soulful tension between Lars and Jimmy, whose merest glance at one another is a complex mix of passion, need, and fear. These guys are bigoted and violent, and don't in any way deserve redemption, but you may find yourself hoping that they find it anyway.” Village Voice

A film by Nicolo Donato

Bruno, a hip young twenty-something in contemporary Buenos Aires, is sleeping with his ex-girlfriend. Meanwhile, she’s also going out with a guy called Pablo. When Bruno sees the two of them together, he realises that he wants her all to himself, although his plan to win her back falls flat. That’s when Bruno comes up with Plan B. If he can’t convince his ex to break up with Pablo, maybe he can convince Pablo to break up with his ex…

A smart and funny film about finding yourself in a totally unexpected place, from award-winning director Marco Berger.

TICKED-OFF TRANNIES WITH KNIVES - Written & directed by Israel Luna. A group of transgender women are violently beaten by three straight guys and left for dead. After regaining their consciousness, the violated vixens turn deadly divas. With their new found confidence and courage, the ticked-off trannies slice their way to vengeance. An homage to the exploitation/revenge films of the 70's and 80's, "Ticked-Off Trannies With Knives" is loaded with titillating dialog, buckets of blood...and extreme violence.

"Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives” is the worst Merchant/Ivory film I’ve ever had the displeasure to sit through. OK, so it’s not a selection of high art from cinema masters, but a seedy low-fi bit of brutality, bundled up tightly as affectionate camp, performed by a cast eager to devour the joke. It’s broad, silly, and repeatedly violent, but the heart of this Grindhouse-inspired effort remains in a happy place, committing to the screen a new breed of exploitation cinema vixen and, believe me, they’re packing more than just knives." VIOLET TENDENCIES - From the pair that brought us Slutty Summer and A Four Letter Word (director Casper Andreas and 2008 OIA Festival guest, scriptwriter / actor Jesse Archer) and reprising some of the characters of those films, comes this diverting, gorgeous New York romp. Violet is the last fag-hag left single and still standing by her men, and although she is the centre of attention every night (unless Zeus, the go-go dancer, is about) Violet goes home alone once too often. As best-friend Riley comes to terms with his boyfriend’s broodiness, and commitment-phobe flatmate Luke does his best to forget delicious monogamous Damian with a host of not-so-private trysts, Violet realises that she might have to change her lifestyle if she is ever going to find true love. Luke believes her best bet is to uncover the mythical ‘fag-stag’ – the illusive hetro version of herself – but Violet cannot wait, and to the collective outcry from her beautiful men, severs all ties and embarks on a highly compromised relationship with the exceedingly dull Vern. When Vern is set on leaving for the mid-west, Violet has to consider if she is indeed ready to leave it all behind. And then for the surprise ending…
